"Find Out What Is Important To You"

My personal community is the most important to me.  My family, friends, and people that I communicate with are very important to me.  This community includes:  my mother,  my father, three sisters, my fiance, my aunts and uncles, my grandparents, my friends, and so many other people.  My parents are my biggest fans and my biggest supporters they are the ones that have my back and we are very close.  We all are there for each other and having a great support system and knowing that I have people who would do anything for me gives me the strength and ability to accomplish goals and tasks.  I am a very outgoing person and I love talking and having a personal life that is strong and true.  My community of friends and family all get together at least two to three times a week and discuss how things in our lives are going and we feed off of each other and this allows us to stand together strong and have supporters and people who we can count on.
To me in life having people who you trust and who you know would do anything for you is very important.  I have had many times in my life when my friends and family have been there for me and gave me the strength to succeed in whatever task I was facing.  For example, about a year and a half ago I began having seizures.  I felt as though it was going to stop me from becoming a nurse and put my college years out of reach, but I had an amazing support system and they helped me through everything and as you can see I am a college student and am happier than ever.  During my leisure time I enjoy hanging out with my fiance Tyler and other family members.  I also play softball and many other sports for fun and enjoy reading and watching television to relax.
My hometown is Anderson, Indiana and it is a small yet loving community.  I have lived there my whole life and it is the type of community where everyone knows pretty much everyone and where you feel as though you have plenty friends and people that care about you.  I love my hometown and I am glad to be associated with them.  I believe that having so many people to help me has been the reason why I want to help others.  I think that more people need to try and step out of their comfort zones and go above and beyond there duties as a person and give a helping hand to others.  I am hoping that doing at least one good deed a day for someone other than myself will help me feel as though I am making a difference in this world, even if it is just a small one.  Turning this into research I am going research some different volunteer ideas and the statistics on how much people do or don't help others and hopefully be able to persuade others to volunteer or even just commit to trying to do at least one nice deed or task every once in awhile for someone else.  I think that if everyone sets out to help others then this world could become such a better place and people would feel as though help is just around the corner.

  1. I have to agree that having a good support system is essential in life. I'm sorry for your past health situation, but I'm glad you've been able to persevere and come out on top. I also agree that it sounds as if we grew up in very similar communities and with similar relationships with our families. I couldn't agree more that doing one small deed a day can make someone else's day, or even influence something bigger in the community. I think it's a good idea. Good luck.

  2. Giving back by doing one good deed a day will be fantastic! That is something that I try to be conscious of doing on a day to day basis, but its hard when you start getting wrapped up in your own busy life. I think by doing this it will get you in the habit of doing so and you will continue to do it even after the month of February. I look forward to hearing about your ideas and your accomplishments! If you have time you should comment on my Ideas post and give me some feedback for my project.

  3. It's kind of a pleasing thought to know that you're going in to nursing after having trouble with your own health. I think it will definitely give you a perspective most nurses may not have when helping patients.

I'm sure this next month and for the rest of your life you'll be making a huge difference in the lives of people you touch!

  4. I completely understand what you mean when you say your parents are you biggest fans! My parents are also my biggest supporters and I would be nowhere if I didn't have them. I think that it is awesome that you can get together with this community in your life so often. I think it is very important and very helpful in many ways to keep in touch with these people as much as possible. I also think it is amazing that from help from your family and friends you were able to work through your health problems and still follow your dreams, thats exactly what friends and family are for.

  5. This story is truly encouraging to me thank you for being so honest. I would have to agree with you that personal community is the most important community. My parents are also my biggest supporters and are always putting my personal needs above their own. I would also agree with your statement about trust. I think that having people in your life that you can always count on to listen to your stories and not pass judgement but only be encouraging is huge, and I am so blessed to have had this in my life so far.

  6. That is awesome you are so into your family and local community. I also live in a small town and it is just an awesome feeling to know most the people when you drive down a street or go to the grocery story. Although, I prefer to be in a big city, but I can definitely relate to that
