What is text?

To me text is words or letters that come together to make something bigger and it can provide one with a visual view of something by taking the text or word.  Text is everywhere you look and it is how people convey messages to others around them.  People use text everyday and it is a form of communication that we use to convey points, messages, information, etc.  Without text in this world then it would be hard for many to communicate and to have a solid form of translation of things.  Text is also a way that people are able to look into the past and to read and view what their world was like before this century.  This helps allow certain aspects of generations to be passed on by text and also it helps to lock in that part of history by writing it down or putting it into text.  Text allows us to get information and to be able to learn things everyday.

  1. I agree with you completely, Whit! It is how we all communicate and if we didn't have it, we would struggle to communicate. Especially is our world of internet and texting. I love that you talked about the past and how text can document our history. I didn't think about how useful it is. If we didn't have text to document our past and our important historical moments, no one would know what happened in the past at all. Text is so important!

  2. I agree with everything that you have said. I didn't look into the importance of text for future generations until reading your post. Text is essential to communication or ideas and concerns and without it the world would suffer. Everyday life could possibly become unsatisfactory. I'm glad you pointed this aspect out to me.

  3. I didn't think of text being an important part of the present because of the written history. Very good point.
